11 am STRUT YOUR STUFF:
LEARN TO SASHAY LIKE A SHOWGIRL
with JEWEL OF DENIAL
60 minutes
Two things are certain about a burlesque act:
you will have to walk and you will have to change directions—
in heels and with a smile on your face! This beginner burlesque
workshop emphasizes simple variations on walks and turns,
balancing techniques and transitions between movements,
with the grace and panache that will make you look like a million bucks!
Boas and gloves will be our tools for the tease--bring your own,
or you can borrow or purchase them in class.

12:30 WIG OUT! With VIXEN VIOLETTE
90 minutes
Terrified by tresses? Want to find out about falls?
Need to add height to your hairdo? Wig out will teach you the
basics of buying, styling, maintaining, and wearing wigs to get whatever
look you’re trying to achieve- from sultry to strange. You’ll get hands on
experience in the classroom that will enable you to go from spending
hours doing your hair to spending minutes pinning it on.

2:30 pm FUN AND PROFIT:
TIPS FOR TURNING PRO with PENNY STARR, JR.
60 minutes
Whether you are being paid or not, acting professional will always
lead to new job opportunities. Learn how to handle yourself at private
parties, appropriate behavior off stage and in the dressing room,
essentials to pack in your dance bag and how to promote yourself
in a very competitive market. Review of contracts and bookings,
setting your rates and how to interpret exactly what a client is looking for
in a burlesque dancer (you’d be surprised at the answers!).

3:30 BURLESQUE CHOREOGRAPHY with LUX LACROIX
90 minutes
Are you tired of "winging it"? Do you wish you had a better
game plan than just "shaking it"? Then Burlesque Choreography
is for you! Professional dancer, award winning choreographer
and Miss Exotic World's 2008 1st Runner Up,
Lux LaCroix will show you how easy it is to choreograph
a full burlesque routine with the most basic steps to achieve
audience approval and applause.

about BUMP AND GRIND 101

Bump & Grind Boot Camp is a ten week class series focusing on
the art of Burlesque dance and costuming. Bump & Grind Boot Camp
is taught by Miss Exotic World 2008 1st Runner Up, Lux LaCroix and
Vixen Violette, two instructors who combined have 40 years of
dance experience, 30 years of theater, and
10 years of burlesque performing under their sparkly belts.

LUX LACROIX

LUX LACROIX is a rising burlesque starlet, documentary filmmaker,
professional dancer and award-winning choreographer.
Professionally she has worked with artists such as Chris Brown,
N.E.R.D., OutKast and Janet Jackson. She has danced in several LA venues
such as The Derby, Broadway Bar, El Cid, The Bordello, and Hyde.
Lux is also a regular performer in the Mexican Wrestling and Saucy Striptease
extravaganza known as Lucha VaVOOM!

Lux has been featured performer the past three years at the New York
Burlesque Festival and this year she was named Miss Exotic World's 2008
1st Runner-Up as well as Most Dazzling Performer. Lux teaches the art of
burlesque dancing in her Bump and Grind 101 class series as well as
co-producing a monthly show, Burlesque-A-Go-Go,
at Mr. T's Bowl in Los Angeles.

VIXEN VIOLETTE

VIXEN VIOLETTE is a Los Angeles based burlesque performer known for
innovative costumes and great (fake) hair. She was recently named
one of the top 20 of modern burlesque performers by
AOL Time Warner. She is also the costuming teacher for the
Bump’n’Grind Bootcamp
and co-producer of The Burlesque-a-Go-Go.
