Burlesque Hall Of Fame 2007 Press Release MISSION STATEMENTThe Burlesque Hall of Fame™ is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. Our mission is to inspire, educate and entertain the public, fostering an appreciation for and understanding of the unique history and heritage of vintage Burlesque--including but not limited to the art, artifacts and personal histories of its biggest names and brightest stars. In 2006, the Burlesque Hall of Fame relocated from Helendale, California to Las Vegas, Nevada--in hopes of establishing a permanent, first-rate tourist attraction and research/exhibition space for our one of a kind collection. For more information about who we are and what we do, including recent coverage of our exhibits, events and other initiatives in the international news media, please visit the links below: Eros Zine: "... the main event of the burlesque universe." CBS News Sunday Morning: "Out in the middle of the barren Mojave Desert blooms an oasis of lovely dancing girls that seems to be a mirage, but in fact it is the Exotic World Museum and Striptease Hall of Fame." Las Vegas Weekly: "Only the best make it to Miss Exotic World, possibly the kitschiest place to get your kicks along Route 66. Drawing vintage culture fiends from across the US, [it's] an experience not to be missed." The London Daily Telegraph: "The Grand National - the Oscars - of burlesque striptease. This is a world of over-the-top make-up, enormous sparkly eyelashes and wild, camp silliness." AOL CityGuide: "Like romance and flirting, burlesque is an art, and no one understands that better than the contestants and fans of the Miss Exotic World pageant." Style Monte Carlo: "The Miss America of Burlesque... as 'burlesque mania' edges ever closer to a fever pitch, a trip to [the Pageant] is a true must in the dust." The London Daily Mirror: "An extraordinary explosion of G-strings, tassels, boas & bustiers... the Striptease Olympics!" MTV News: "Live music, elaborate costumes, perfected dance routines and a hearty sense of humor give the audience a taste of old Hollywood glamour." Travel Savvy: "They come from all over: LA, NY, Phoenix, New Orleans, Detroit, Dallas &: Tokyo. They are pole dancers, pinup collectors, rockabilly boys, filmmakers, performance artists, voyeurs--and they have come to pay their respects to the all-but-vanished art of burlesque dancing. This is Exotic World USA, a Mecca for modern-day ecdysiasts, and today is their high holy day." ABC News: "Burlesque is experiencing a revival, flowing from America's cultural centers, across the heartland, and slowly, around the world." LA Weekly: "A flashpoint for the [burlesque] movement and a pilgrimage for its emerging avatars." NPR: "While Exotic World's initial attraction may be as much an exercise in camp and kitsch, its subtlety provides a more important lesson on the meaning of beauty, and the importance of tradition and memory." Salon.com: "At Miss Exotic World, the strippers may be old enough to be your grandmother, but they still know a thing or two about the erotic arts." Vancouver Courier: "If only jewel-encrusted G-strings could talk!"
